We're proud to work in partnership with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), who offer free heart screenings across Cheshire for young people aged 14 to 35.
We previously funded a weekend screening session at Tarporley Hospital in July 2025, where 199 young people were screened and 15 referred for further investigation. The weekend also marked a significant milestone for the CRY team: their 10,000th person screened, Charlie Mae Conway.
Cardiac Risk in the Young works to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening, research and support for affected families. Screening days identify cardiac abnormalities in 14 to 35-year-olds, starting with an ECG. Anyone with an abnormal result also receives an echocardiogram and a full cardiac evaluation.
